The friendly male slow worm who turned out to be female whom I share territory with

Composition: 10% scary, 10% icky, 80% adorable

This cute little snake-worm is a legless lizard called the slow worm (Anguis fragilis). As docile as they come, it is a gentle and helpful creature who quickly gets used to people and prefers to wait rather than flee.

It explores the world around it by sniffing with its flickering, forked tongue. Some call it the blindworm but it can see just fine – exactly as much as it needs to.

The male, like our dashing friend here, has elegant black stripes along his body. The FEMALE, like our dashing friend here, has elegant black stripes along her body. WHICH I TOTALLY DIDN’T KNOW because my source was wrong😅 Thanks to the kindness of internet strangers, I now know better🤗
